Do you want to increase your comfort and confidence underwater? During this Surf Apnea Clinic by Tangaroa Freedive Netherlands, you will learn freediving techniques that help you deal better with hold-downs and stressful situations in the ocean. This course is specially designed for surfers and kitesurfers who want to feel safer and more relaxed in the water.

You will learn how your body reacts when you hold your breath and how to use this knowledge to stay longer, calmer and more efficient underwater. Through breathing techniques, mental training and relaxation exercises, you will develop the skills to stay calm when conditions become challenging.

The goal of the clinic is simple: more confidence in the water. You always decide for yourself how far you want to challenge your limits.

Theory & exercises

  • Introduction to freediving for surfers

  • How to stay longer underwater while remaining relaxed

  • The body’s dive reflex and the role of oxygen (O₂) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) during hold-downs

  • Basic mental training for stressful situations

  • Breathing, focus and relaxation techniques

  • Dry apnea exercises to safely practice the techniques

Water session

After the theory session, we go into the water to put everything into practice. You will learn how to hold your breath longer and more comfortably while staying relaxed.

We start with a strong focus on relaxation and gradually increase the challenge in safe and controlled conditions. This allows you to experience step by step what your body is capable of — while always deciding yourself how challenging the session becomes.
